A coarse substratum constituting a dominance (≥ 80 %) of particles with grainsizes 0.0625-2 mm in any dimension.
Level 4 definitions
- Very Fine Sand: A sand where particles between 0.0625-0.125 mm in any dimension are dominant (constitute ≥ 80 % of the sand).
- Fine Sand: A sand where particles between 0.125-0.250 mm in any dimension are dominant (constitute ≥ 80 % of the sand).
- Medium Sand: A sand where particles between 0.25-0.5 mm in any dimension are dominant (constitute ≥ 80 % of the sand).
- Coarse Sand: A sand where particles between 0.5-1 mm in any dimension are dominant (constitute ≥ 80 % of the sand).
- Very Coarse Sand: A sand where particles between 1-2 mm in any dimension are dominant (constitute ≥ 60 % of the sand).
