Mangrove

An area dominated by mangroves, a tree or shrub that occurs in saline and brackish water in coastal and estuarine environments between low and high tide levels on sheltered shores. Mangroves are typically considered a tropical species, however in Australia some species occur in temperate regions as well. They typically have a tangled, above ground root system, and can form extensive swampy forests.
