Consolidated substrata where individual particles are between 256-4096 mm in any dimension and comprise ≥ 80 % of the surface.

Level 4 definitions

  • Fine Boulder: A boulder-dominated substratum where ≥ 80 % of the boulders are between 256-512 mm in any dimension.
  • Medium Boulder: A boulder-dominated substratum where ≥ 80 % of the boulders are between 512-1024 mm in any dimension.
  • Coarse Boulder: A boulder-dominated substratum where ≥ 80 % of the boulders are between 1024-2048 mm in any dimension.
  • Very Coarse Boulder: A boulder-dominated substratum where ≥ 80 % of the boulders are between 2048-4096 mm in any dimension.
